Chevy!

Today's blog is brought to you by our guest writer, Shelley.

And now the long awaited explanation of CHEVY!

As you can imagine, there was lots of excited anticipation of Cole's birth among my colleagues at work. Shortly after he was born on Friday morning, Cole's Auntie Ju Lei called her husband Paul to share the good news and announce Cole's name: Cole Cesare. Paul, who's from Ireland, happened to be working on a deck for Alice Heimsoth, who works with Ju Lei and I. So, when he talked to her that morning, he passed on the announcement so she could share with people at work. Alice then sent a very sweet email to everyone at the office, apologizing that between the phone connection and Paul's Irish accent, she may have gotten the name wrong.

Cole's middle name Cesare is the Italian form of Caesar (or Cesar, in Spanish), pronounced "CHEZ-a-ray." If you aren't familiar with the name, it can be hard to understand (which is why we chose it for his middle name, and not his first one).

In Alice's email, after her apology, she announced to my office that we had named our son Cole CHEVROLET. Which you can imagine caused quite a stir...apparently they decided that we must have some family connection to the company (or, as at least one person was convinced, he may have been conceived in a Chevrolet - which, we can assure you, he was not!)

It has since been cleared up with everyone that we didn't name our baby after a car. But Cole will forever be known as "Little Chevy" to everyone at work!

And that's the story.

6 1/2 days

Get ready

Get setPOO!OH BOY ...its already visible.Tada! The following panel was rated PU and was withheld for your protection
(readers will be spared the close ups of the amazing amounts a diaper can hold)
After 6 1/2 days the long awaited poo finally came. we heard it happens when they get older - to skip a week, but we didn't expect it this early. I can only imagine what a more developed little body will produce with a weeks worth of eating and storing up. Shelley's office mates have no clue how close they came...thank god he waited until today.

Until Next time.

Road Trip!

So this past weekend saw Cole's first road trip to visit the aunties in Sacramento.

The actual trip itself went well and Cole traveled great. It was the first time however we went over night with him and realized that we no longer are able to leave packing until the last minute. Oh well, now we know.

While in Sacramento, Cole also got to meet Marta and Bethy (Good point to make - for all posts-If I spell your name wrong sorry), two of Joanne and Sandy's good friends who have been great to us over the years, especially the last few months. As you can see they are trying to get Cole into magic sooner than I am.

Lastly, Cole had his big coming out (not sure if pun is intended - check back in 16 years or so) at Shelley's office. Now we will see how Cole's immune system really holds up. He was passed from one co-worker (The non-sick one's , don't worry Grandma's) to the next for the entire 2 hrs. The process was a little like russian roulette. Unbeknownst to the office, Cole was locked and loaded, as he has been for 5 days now. Round and round he went, and all Shelley and I could do was wait and see who he would explode on, with 5 days worth of crap stored up, we thought for sure someone was going to get it. Alas, no one was the winner (or loser I guess). He has a 2 month doctor visit tommorow, so we'll see what she says to do, from what we read this is not an uncommon thing, so we are not too concerned especially since he seems ok in all other regards.

On a brighter side, please keep some friends of ours in your thoughts over the next few days. Norman and Tanya, and Rob and Deb. Both Couples are expecting in the next few days. One will be their first the other their second. Good luck guys!

Until next time.

What's in a name?

Ambrocente? So, many of you may ask, hey where the heck does that name come from? Or you may say, What's Brian's Last name again? Well as some of you already know, Shelley and I have been in CA too long now and we decided to do things a little differently.

We talked and talked about what would we do with our child's last name since we both kept our birth names and both of us had created names for ourselves in our respected fields.

We did not want to doom our child with the longest last name in class by hyphenating Ambrosch Facente. We also couldn't figure out whose last name would win out if we just chose just one. We even played around with the idea of my changing my last name (Since most people know me by my stage name anyways - that's right, I am not really Brian Scott, sorry to destroy the illusion) but when we realized I would have the same exact name as her father, that was just plain weird.

So we did the only reasonable thing there was and just mashed our names together and created a new Last name. And in case you were wondering why my name went first in the mash, Fambrosch just doesnt sound as good.

There you have it, Brian Ambrosch + Shelley Facente = Cole "Chevy" Ambrocente - More on the Chevy at another time.

Holy Crap

OK so I will save you all from the actual image, but can some one please explain to me how in the world so much crap can fit inside such little bodies? Cole has lately decided that he likes to save up his daily alotment of bowel movements for one wonderful explosion. The last one quickly escaped the top of the diaper and work its way up his back and soaked into dads shirt...yet I kept smiling, laughed and chuckled as I swore under my breath... ahhh aint parenthood grand, you really do only have conversations about poop - if I remember correctly that is what almost got us kicked out of the hotel in Hawaii, but that another story for another time!

Of course all this with a visitor over - Kate got a wonderful show, but she also finally got some good baby time after he settled down.
